Byron Bay may be small, but it’s packed with so many beautiful things to see and do. If you have been thinking of doing a little more activity on your next stay at Byron Bay Beach Houses, then now is the perfect time to still enjoy the warmth of sunshine whilst cutting down on that Summer “sweat factor”.
Autumn Byron Bay days are known for sun and clear blue skies, staying warm right up to the onset of Winter. The crowds start to thin as school begins and the drop in heat makes it perfect weather to relax and stay longer on the beach or hike to some of Byron Bays most beautiful site attractions.
The most iconic of these attractions is the Cape Byron Lighthouse located on the most easterly point of Australia. Whilst there are several ways to reaching the top of the Lighthouse, the most renowned is embarking upon the Cape Byron walking track.
An easy walk to the Cape will allow you to experience the coastal scenery at its best. Enjoy spectacular coastal views as you track through lush rainforest, glistening beaches, grassland and spectacular clifftop views from Byron Bay’s Lighthouse. For best views enroute, walk along Main Beach and climb up toward the lighthouse from Wategos. It’s an easy/ moderate hike and takes about 30 minutes from the town centre. The 3.7km loop leads you on a hike through the rainforest and across clifftops with stunning views of the ocean and hinterland. From here you are likely to see an array of local marine life such as turtles, dolphins, stingrays and, in season, whales. The track wanders through Bangalow palms, ancient burrawangs, across kangaroo grasslands and along picturesque beaches and up to Cape Byron Lighthouse.
If you are not a confident hiker, or just prefer to take things a little slower on your trip, then the track offers multiple entry points to shorten the journey to the top. Whichever way you decide to take on the journey, just enjoy every minute of your trip by embracing the unexpected and going with the flow. In the end that is what Byron Bays local community is all about.
