If we were playing a word association game and I said Byron Bay you would immediately think of beaches, holidays, paradise and for some, the Hemsworth brothers and in each case you’d be right, but what you need to add to that list is walking tracks and I will tell you why.
The town and its surrounding area in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales is a place on the Australian map that affords picture perfect views in a pristine environment and what better way to experience mother nature at her very best than to meander down one of the many walking tracks.
On foot, you will get to see
amazing wildlife, verdant bushland, the lush rainforests of Byron’s Hinterland, some of the world’s most stunning coastlines and from time to time, passing whales, dolphins and turtles.
What else is possible when you hit the track is finding a place to enjoy a picnic, take a swim in the ocean or one of the fresh water pools and pursue you love of fishing or birdwatching.
So whether your a seasoned walker or a casual stroller, prefer a guide or decide to go it alone, there’s a choice for everyone’s pace and interests, so here’s but a sample of what’s on offer both close to town and beyond:
