Like Vegemite and toast, Byron Bay and surfing are a great combination.
Curious, want to know more, well, it goes like this and remember, you don’t have to be a surfer to join in the party atmosphere.
Between 20 and 24 February, this renowned, idyllic beachside town will host their annual Surf Festival a community connected but globally recognised event featuring some iconic talent, past and present, including Stephanie Gilmore, Mark Occhilupo, Tom Carroll and Lisa Anderson.
Debuting in 2010, the proud Ocean Friendly Festival with its Deep Blue Event and a One Percent for the Planet status, is a unique, vibrant and diverse celebration of local, national and international surf culture with a focus on creativity, experimental ideas, education, innovation, the environment and sustainability.
Over the four day period, this non-competitive event will offer both free and ticketed entry into a raft of activities fusing together everything from surf sessions to art and photographic exhibitions, live music, film, yoga, markets, fashion and food.
Wrapping up the Festival on the Sunday is the famous freestyle and stoke surf sessions along the pristine foreshores of Wategos beach topped off with a must attend closing party at the Beach Hotel.
A visit to the Festival would not be complete without treating yourself to an indulgent stay at one of the equally iconic and unique Byron Bay Beach Houses (BBBH).
Ideally located to all the event action, the BBBH offer a superb choice of luxury accommodation in a breathtaking setting. For more information and bookings, click here.
